THE LAST FINISH OF 2024 is SEW EVERGREEN! from Kwilty Pleasures

The last Sew-Along that Kim Hensley and I sewed for our
11th Sewcial Distance quilting was in September, 2024
but, its my last finish for 2024.

Kim and I love Christmas quilts
and this EVERGREEN Pattern by Cluck, Cluck Sew
 was perfect.

I had lots of scraps to use from SWELL Christmas.

We broke it down into 4 weeks and
asked folks to join in.  And one of the other
KWILTY GIRLS, Lucinda, did just that
using her scraps.

Kim used a FLURRY Layer Cake by Kate Spain

CRAYON CHALLENGE from Kwilty Pleasures

I have to admit..I color outside the lines.
Columbus Modern Quilters had a CRAYON Challenge
I accepted!

In a blind draw…these were my Crayon colors!

Raw Sienna and Goldenrod

I wanted to do something different and useful!
And my Charley Harper birds flew in to help!

I had two small  orphan blocks

I set them in some mustard GRUNGE and scraps.

To make a journal cover.

Front

Back

I used card-stock and fabric scraps to make the journal section dividers !

I have been journaling my creative journey for about 10 years.

CORK IT! from Kwilty Pleasures

I hadn't made a bag for myself in quite some time.
I wanted to use up some of my cork!
I found a pattern that seemed perfect.

I like when a pattern has labels for the pieces needed.
Keeps me organized and happy!

The red is cork and sew easy to work with.

I don't always follow a pattern exactly.
Sometimes I change up a pocket, add a key toggle.

My label is added.

I added a slip pocket to the front for my phone.
The pattern called for a zipper pocket.

All ready for the fall season ...

AUNT HATTIE'S QUILT V2.0 from Kwilty Pleasures

My Aunt Hattie was one of 4 sisters who loved to quilt.
When I was about 12 she showed me how to tie this quilt.
I had no idea then what she gave me to my not yet know
quilting journey.
50 years later Hattie's quilt needed an update.

Sew I took it apart, tossed the nasty batting,
pieced together Quilters Dream batting pieces,
and bought a new blanket for the backing.
I found some suede yarn for re-tying it.

This baby is HUGE, the blanket is KING size.

WONKED OUT GHASTLIES from Kwilty Pleasures

Several years ago I was in a Ghastlies Wonky Star Swap
with a few Friends on Instagram.
All of us used white low volume backgrounds,
And added our own Ghastlies prints and stash for then stars.

These are my blocks!

They sat for years as I was unsure what I wanted to do with them.
I never rush into anything!

Someone gave me this pattern and a lightbulb went off!
I could do something similar, but different.

I made sure all the blocks were the same size and proceeded from there
And I found the greenish fabric in my stash ...

Week 4 of 2024 from Thread Head

This past week I sewed another black skirt. This one a winter one in a thick knit (I think a ponte or a scuba - another one that was $1 a pound). It is from a Lutterloh dress pattern that I modified to make a skirt.

I put another set of tea towels on the loom. A huck lace pattern in 2/8 cotton, woven with two shuttles.

Temperatures are warming up (around freezing) for the temperature blanket. There will be some more new colours this next week with even warmer temperatures in the forecast.

Week 1 of 2024 from Thread Head

I finished knitting my sweater. It is a simple, top-down, raglan sweater (no pattern). I cast on 66 stitches for the neck on 4.5mm needles and went from there. The yarn is Wool of the Andes Tweed from KnitPicks in the colour way Lighthouse Heather (9 balls).

This is my new knitting project, a year long temperature blanket. My Mom and I are both making them (she is celebrating her 90th birthday and 65th wedding anniversary, and I am celebrating my 35th wedding anniversary this year).
The kit is from Fleece Artist.
It has been interesting to work out ...
